Post Numero Uno: A Welcome & Introduction
Welcome, everyone!
I’m Salma, an English teacher with over a decade of experience and a passion for all things literacy, teaching, and learning.
My aim is to use this blog space to share reflections,
classroom ideas, and resources that celebrate the gift that is education. For
me, the classroom is where the magic truly happens. If, in the past decade,
I’ve inspired even just one student to recognise the power of learning and its
ability to transform lives, thereby dreaming big and doing big, then I feel
I’ve done my job.
Like my father and mother, I’m deeply passionate
about education for women, believing it to be one of the most powerful forces
for change.
I hold a BA (Hons) in English Language and
Literature, a PGCE with QTS, and National Professional Qualifications in
Leading Literacy (NPQLL) and Leading Teaching (NPQLT), all of which have
deepened my love for pedagogy and purposeful classroom practice.
Beyond the classroom, I’m a mother, a fourth-culture
kid, and a speaker of 4.5 languages. I’m also a lover of badminton,
paddleboarding, travel, K-dramas, and books (I also review
for publishers!). Each of these helps me fill my cup and brings warmth to my
soul in a way that words can’t quite capture.
I’m so excited to begin this journey to discuss,
reflect, and learn. I’m especially grateful to my teacher community on X/Twitter, who continue to inspire and uplift every single day.
Here’s to teaching with heart, running the daily
grind on matchas, and helping our students take one step closer to their
goals through the power of education.
